Early Childhood Connected is a 36 week program designed for young learners ages 2-5.
ECC is influenced by Reggio Emilia, Montessori, Howard Gardner’s theory of multiple intelligences and play based philosophies. The curriculum covers math, science, literacy, art and movement with an emphasis on social emotional skills and mindfulness.
About the Curriculum
This flexible curriculum mimics a typical school year calendar, split into three 12-week trimesters. Each week, a new unit and theme is introduced, containing all of the activities, stories, and letters that expand on the theme. For 30-90 minutes a day, you may control how much or how little time you need to spend on the curriculum. Multiple optional activities are provided, which you can use to build onto a lesson. Activities tend to get increasingly more challenging, as skills develop.
The curriculum is released one month at a time. You can access it digitally with your own password. Once logged in, you will see the weekly calendar containing all the activities. Then you can jump to each day for a more thorough description. Questions about the books are provided to spark children’s reflection, critical thinking as well as general reading comprehension. And for the majority of the picture books in the curriculum, there are provided YouTube links to readings so that you don’t have to go out and buy/rent so many books!
A Little Bit About Us
With a combined 20+ years of experience, Meredith and Michelle are able to pick and choose their favorite aspects of teaching philosophies. Meredith has her Bachelor of Arts in Early Child and Adolescence Development. With 13 years of experience working in early childhood settings, Meredith has taught ages 2 – 5 for 10 years and was a preschool Director for three years. She believes that setting the foundation for early learners is exponential to helping children become lifelong learners. She specializes in mindfulness and emotional development. Michelle has her Master of Arts in Educational Therapy and Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education. She has a private practice working in a 1-on-1 setting. She uses a therapeutic approach to provide academic remediation and advancement to students ages 2-14. She taught preK for four years and has a young daughter of her own.
